Airport Fire Station Tour

We drove to the firestation by the airport for a tour. We had heard they had special equipment for fighting fires on airplanes and that the kids would enjoy it!
We started with a meeting in the conference room telling us what to do in the event they get called out. They clear twice as fast as a regular fire station so basically, they said to stay close to our kids and get out of the way. Left us all hoping they did not get called out!
It was nice tour as they explained their coverage area (the circumference of the airport) showed us how their shift charts work and let the kids play on the equipment in the workout room.
The best part was showing us their gear. It was silver and much more insulated than regular fireman's gear to protect them from the higher temperatures of a jet fuel fire.
Their trucks were very different looking. They carried 3 times as much water as a regular fire truck. Their cannons could shoot water at an incredible distance. They often have to fight a fire from far back due to the temperatures.
It was a very good tour and they took a picture of all of us to hang on their wall!
